About Meta
Meta
Design Team: Jake Palu, Grace Yoon
My work with Meta spans several years and multiple parts of its digital ecosystem. I helped lead design across the About site, campaign experiences, navigation, and emerging platforms, with much of that work centered around a larger challenge: creating a more connected digital experience across a company with many teams, products, and existing systems.
The About Meta site became the starting point. Following the company’s rebrand, we evolved both the site and its design system to better reflect Meta’s new visual identity while making it easier to manage a huge range of content. We introduced new foundations, components, layouts, and interaction patterns, and rethought the navigation to create clearer pathways between Meta’s products, initiatives, news, and resources.
That work eventually opened the door to a broader systems effort. We audited xMDS, Meta Store, About, and other existing systems to understand what could be shared and what needed to remain purpose-built. Instead of creating another standalone system, we focused on finding the connective tissue between them, bringing greater consistency to foundations, patterns, and behaviors across Meta’s web ecosystem.
Because the system would be used by teams well beyond our own, documentation was a major part of the work. We partnered closely with engineering to define component usage, responsive behavior, motion, and accessibility, creating detailed design and accessibility specs that could support Meta’s internal teams and external partners. The work continued to evolve through experiences including Family Center and Meta for Developers, giving us opportunities to test, refine, and extend the thinking across very different parts of Meta.
